Salisbury University men’s tennis player Gurv Suri advanced to the Championship Singles round of 16 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional Championship in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The tournament, hosted by the University of Mary Washington at the UMW Tennis Complex, concluded Salisbury University’s fall tournament season.
Salisbury University sent seven representatives to the regional championship. Suri defeated Stevens’ Christopher Cho 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 in the Championship Singles round of 64 before advancing through the round of 32 due to an opponent’s injury.
Gurv Suri Advances in Championship Singles
Johns Hopkins’ Adamantios Stavrakas eliminated Suri in the round of 16 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Suri also teamed with Nils Guyot in B1 Doubles, where the Salisbury University pair defeated a Lynchburg pair 8-2 in the opening round before losing 8-6 to a Johns Hopkins duo.
Lucas Pham lost in the first round of the main singles bracket before defeating Dickinson’s Lucas Bogle 8-4 in a consolation match. He also advanced to the B1 Doubles quarterfinals with Leo Pham after the pair defeated a University of Mary Washington pairing 8-5, then lost 8-4 to a Franklin & Marshall duo.
Salisbury University Completes B-Bracket Play
Nils Guyot defeated Hampden-Sydney’s Ben Price 6-2, 6-1 in the B3 Singles bracket. He then lost to the University of Mary Washington’s William Fromherz 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
Leo Pham, Bobby Stabile and Maas Jacobs also competed in B-bracket singles play. Stabile and Nicholas O’Dea were paired in the Championship Doubles bracket.
Spring 2027 Schedule Has Not Been Announced
Salisbury University will shift its focus to the spring 2027 regular season after completing its fall tournament schedule. Spring 2027 regular-season dates and times have not been announced.
Salisbury University is an NCAA Division III member with primary membership in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference.
