Fairmont State Takes First Two Sets
Frostburg State opened with a 4-0 lead, but Fairmont State answered with a 10-1 run and moved ahead 12-6. The Bobcats trimmed the deficit to 20-15 before Fairmont State scored the final five points to win the first set, 25-15.
Fairmont State carried that momentum into the second set and built an 8-3 advantage. Frostburg State pulled within three points at 22-19, but Fairmont State scored the next two points before taking the set, 25-20.
Bobcats Extend the Match
Fairmont State led 9-3 early in the third set, but Frostburg State responded with an 8-0 run to take a 19-13 lead. The Falcons cut the margin to two points, but the Bobcats held on for a 25-22 victory and extended the match.
Fairmont State held a 21-17 lead in the fourth set before Frostburg State rallied to tie the score at 22-22. The teams traded points from there, but Fairmont State closed out the set and match with a 26-24 victory.
Yocham, Stanton Lead Frostburg State
Yocham led the Frostburg State attack with 11 kills, matching her season high. She and Gabrielle Morris each recorded four blocks to share the match high, while Stanton’s five aces established a career best.
Rhea Shetty and Emery Kuebler combined for 40 assists, and Miranda Ball recorded a match-best 21 digs. The loss dropped Frostburg State to 5-11 overall and 2-4 in the Mountain East Conference, while Fairmont State improved to 17-4 overall and 6-0 in the MEC.
