Goucher College field hockey fell 3-0 to the Catholic University of America Cardinals on Tuesday evening in Washington, D.C. Katie Bloom recorded 15 saves and played all 60 minutes in goal for Goucher College, which entered the game with a 4-7 overall record and a 0-3 conference record.
The Catholic University of America entered the game at 5-6 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Cardinals scored once in the second quarter and twice in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Catholic University of America Cardinals Build Three-Goal Lead
Maddie Pennisi scored at 28:43 to give the Catholic University of America Cardinals a 1-0 lead late in the first half. Goucher College remained within one goal through the third quarter, while Bloom made multiple saves during Catholic’s offensive pressure.
Hope Wagner extended the Cardinals’ lead at 56:23, and Katie Flynn scored at 59:08 to complete the scoring. Flynn led the Catholic University of America Cardinals with 11 shots, while Laureen Otieno recorded both of Goucher College’s shots.
Catholic led Goucher in shots, 28-3, including an 18-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Cardinals also held a 22-1 edge in penalty corners. Both teams were charged with zero fouls.

Goucher College will return to action Saturday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. against Juniata. The team will host its Morgan’s Message and Pink Out game on Beldon Field.
