Johns Hopkins University Athletics women’s volleyball defeated fifth-ranked Juniata, 3-2, on October 2, 2026, at Goldfarb Gymnasium in Baltimore. Ivy Swafford led all players with 21 kills as Johns Hopkins overcame a 2-1 deficit, extended its winning streak to four matches, and improved to 7-5 on the season.
Johns Hopkins Takes Control Late
Johns Hopkins won the opening set, 26-24, after Juniata moved ahead 23-21. The Blue Jays closed with five of the final six points, and Bethany Sherwood delivered the decisive block for the set victory.
Juniata answered with a 25-19 win in the second set to even the match. Johns Hopkins built a 10-4 lead in the third, but a late four-point Juniata run helped the Eagles take the set, 25-23, and move ahead 2-1.
Johns Hopkins held a 16-13 advantage in the fourth set before Juniata tied the score at 16-16. The Blue Jays responded with a 7-1 closing run to win 25-19 and force a deciding fifth set.
Johns Hopkins opened the fifth set with a 7-1 lead and maintained control. Ella Wismer’s kill put the Blue Jays ahead 13-5, and Sherwood finished the match with a kill in a 15-7 victory.
Johns Hopkins Statistical Leaders
Swafford’s 21 kills were a match high. Annika Anderson recorded a team-high 24 assists, while Sherwood finished with seven blocks.
Nicole Tuszynski added a match-high eight digs for Johns Hopkins. Juniata fell to 7-3 with the loss.
