University of Maryland, Baltimore County Women’s Cross Country Finishes 32nd at 2026 Paul Short Invitational as Lyna Beraich Leads

University of Maryland, Baltimore County Women’s Cross Country finished 32nd out of 37 squads at the 2026 Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 2 in Bethlehem, Pa. Lehigh University hosted the meet, where senior Lyna Beraich led the team by finishing 109th among 316 competitors in the 6K race.

Beraich completed the course in 22:13.5 and passed 18 competitors during the final mile. Senior Katelyn Deal followed with a 163rd-place finish in 22:43.4 after climbing nine spots during the final stretch.

University of Maryland, Baltimore County Women’s Cross Country Results

Junior Katie Schwaner finished 185th in 22:55.5, while freshman Alyssa Mattes placed 188th in 22:56.8. Mattes advanced 11 places during the last mile.

Sophomore Emily Mitroka finished 254th in 23:49.0. Sophomore Elizabeth Mitroka recorded a time of 23:55.8, and sophomore Maddie Wassin finished 271st in 24:10.5.

Liberty Wins the Paul Short Invitational

Liberty won the event with 115 points. The University of Maryland, Baltimore County team competed in the 37-squad field at the Lehigh University-hosted invitational.

Next Meet for University of Maryland, Baltimore County Women’s Cross Country

University of Maryland, Baltimore County Women’s Cross Country will compete at the University of Virginia Invitational on Friday, Oct. 16. The meet is the team’s next scheduled competition.
