Frostburg State University Women’s Soccer defeated Concord 5-1 Wednesday in Athens, West Virginia, as Kelly Dougherty scored twice in the road victory. The Bobcats built a five-goal halftime lead and improved to 7-2-1, while Concord fell to 2-7-1.
Chelsea Pettyjohn, Ana Davis and Reese Rizzo also scored for Frostburg State. Daisy Cook scored Concord’s lone goal in the second half, preventing the Bobcats from completing the shutout.
Frostburg State Builds Five-Goal Halftime Lead
Pettyjohn opened the scoring after Cassidy Paige sent a cross into the box. Davis then doubled the lead with a goal assisted by Mollie Rebuck and Madison Hobson.
Dougherty scored twice within a five-minute span to push Frostburg State’s advantage to 4-0. Elena Fernandez assisted on Dougherty’s first goal, while the freshman scored her second after taking advantage of a Concord clearance.
Rizzo completed the first-half scoring with an assist from Davis. Concord responded in the second half when Cook scored with assists from Molly Watters and Ela Marit Del Orbe.
Bobcats Control Shot Totals
Frostburg State held a 17-11 advantage in shots and an 8-4 edge in shots on goal. The Bobcats return home Oct. 3 to host West Virginia Wesleyan at 5 p.m., with Senior Day planned before the match.
