The Salisbury University women’s tennis team advanced to the round of 16 in the open doubles championship flight at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional Championship on Sept. 26 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Gibelle Beaujon and Cleo Solomon led the team’s performance at the tournament hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
Salisbury University Women’s Tennis Advances in Doubles
Beaujon and Solomon defeated Lily Ganjbaksh and Katherine Yao of St. Mary’s (Md.), 8-2, in the round of 64. The Salisbury University pair followed with an 8-2 victory over the University of Mary Washington’s Madeleine Holman and Rita Taylor in the round of 32.
Carnegie Mellon University’s Rachel Li and Shelly Zinchenko ended the run with an 8-6 victory in the round of 16. Beaujon and Solomon advanced through two rounds in the open doubles championship flight.
Gibelle Beaujon Advances in Singles
Beaujon also won her opening match in the open singles championship flight. She defeated Washington & Lee’s Greer Webb, 7-6 (7-5), 6-1, in the round of 64.
Carnegie Mellon University’s Ahnoa Chowdhury then defeated Beaujon, 6-3, 6-1, in the round of 32. Solomon competed in both the singles championship and consolation flights and exited after one match in each.
Ridgley Lake and Katherine Raab Compete
Ridgley Lake won her first singles match in her flight by defeating the University of Mary Washington’s Taylor, 6-5, after an injury. Lake then lost to Gettysburg’s Eden Levkov.
Lake and Katherine Raab also competed together in two doubles matches. Four members of the Salisbury University women’s tennis team competed at the annual regional championship.

Gibelle Beaujon and Cleo Solomon provided Salisbury University with its top result at the tournament by reaching the open doubles championship flight’s round of 16.
