Coppin State women’s volleyball defeated Loyola Maryland 3-2 on Sept. 29 at the Physical Education Complex Arena in Baltimore, extending its winning streak to 10 matches and matching the program record for the longest streak. Ivanna Luna led the victory with a career-high 18 kills.
Coppin State won by set scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-12, 21-25 and 15-11. The Eagles improved to 11-5 overall and 2-0 in MEAC play.
Ivanna Luna Leads Coppin State Women’s Volleyball
Luna hit .444 on 36 attacks and added six digs and two blocks. Cherisse Atilano recorded a season-high 17 kills on 42 attacks, hit .286, added nine digs and finished with 19.0 points. Coppin State recorded 64 kills and hit .281 as a team. The Eagles also held a 12-2 advantage in total blocks, with Kayden Cupid contributing six kills and six blocks.
Coppin State Wins Decisive Fifth Set
Loyola Maryland took the opening set 25-23 before Coppin State answered with victories in the second and third sets. The Eagles won the third set 25-12, but Loyola Maryland forced a deciding frame by taking the fourth set 25-21. Coppin State closed out the match with a 15-11 win in the fifth set. Kendall Minta added seven kills, while Deviana Walker finished with five kills and six digs.
Eva Rovello directed the offense with 45 assists and a team-high 17 digs. Rovello also recorded five kills on nine attempts while hitting .556, while Coco Figueroa added 12 digs and Andrea Cintron contributed eight digs and three aces.

Coppin State women’s volleyball combined a .281 team hitting percentage with a 12-2 blocking advantage to secure its 10th consecutive victory. Luna’s career-high 18 kills led the attack as Coppin State responded after Loyola Maryland won the opening and fourth sets.
Coppin State will continue MEAC play at South Carolina State on Friday, Oct. 2.
