Senior Ivy Swafford became the fourth player in Johns Hopkins University women’s volleyball history to receive the AVCA Division III Women’s Player of the Week honor on Sept. 29, 2026. Swafford earned the recognition after helping Johns Hopkins go 2-0 at the Hopkins Invitational against Scranton and St. John Fisher.
Swafford also received the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week award. Across eight sets, the outside hitter recorded 43 kills, averaging 5.38 per set, on a .422 hitting percentage. She added seven aces and 22 digs, averaging 2.75 digs per set, and earned Hopkins Invitational All-Tournament Team honors.
Ivy Swafford Leads Johns Hopkins at Hopkins Invitational
Swafford opened the weekend with a career-high 25 kills against Scranton. She followed with 18 kills on a .500 hitting percentage in a sweep of St. John Fisher.
The performance against St. John Fisher gave Swafford 67 kills over her last three matches. That total is the most by a Johns Hopkins player over a three-match span in at least the last 10 years.
Fourth Johns Hopkins Player to Receive AVCA Honor
Swafford joins Simone Bliss, Natalie Aston and Helena Swaak as the only Blue Jays in program history to receive the AVCA Division III Women’s Player of the Week honor. Bliss and Aston received the recognition in 2021, while Swaak earned it in 2023.

Johns Hopkins returns to action Friday, Oct. 2, against sixth-ranked Juniata at 6 p.m. inside Goldfarb Gymnasium.
