The Salisbury University men’s tennis team began its fall tournament schedule Sept. 26 at the Christopher Newport Invitational held at Eyre Courts in Newport News, Virginia. Maas Jacobs earned a singles victory over CNU’s Matt Miller, 6-3, 0-6, 10-8.
The Sea Gulls competed in both singles and doubles matches against the hosting Captains, Shenandoah and Batten. Jacobs also partnered with Nils Guyot in doubles play.
Maas Jacobs Earns Singles Victory
Jacobs secured Salisbury’s listed singles win with a three-set victory over Miller. He captured the opening set, 6-3, dropped the second set, 6-0, and clinched the match in the tiebreak, 10-8.
Other Salisbury singles competitors included Lucas Pham, Bobby Stabile, Leo Pham, Nils Guyot, Nicholas O’Dea and Chase Catullo. The doubles teams featured Nicholas O’Dea and Bobby Stabile, Maas Jacobs and Nils Guyot, and the two Phams.
Salisbury University Men’s Tennis Team Scheduled for ITA Regional
Looking ahead, Salisbury University will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional Tournament from Oct. 2-4 at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
