The Bowie State University women’s volleyball team lost to Elizabeth City State 3-2 on Sept. 24, 2026, in Bowie, Md. The Bulldogs won the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-22, before Elizabeth City State rallied to take the final three sets, 26-24, 25-21 and 15-7.
Bowie State Takes Early Lead
Bowie State controlled the opening two sets, but Elizabeth City State began a strong comeback starting in the third set. ECSU won the third set 26-24 and evened the match with a 25-21 victory in the fourth.
Elizabeth City State then claimed the decisive fifth set 15-7. The loss left Bowie State at 2-5 overall and 0-2 in CIAA play, while Elizabeth City State improved to 5-10 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
Bowie State Statistical Leaders
Abena Asomani-Martin led Bowie State with 14 kills and 16 points. She also contributed 10 digs and two blocks. Taylor Johnson had an impressive performance with 12 kills, 14 digs, four blocks and 15.5 points.
Gabrielle Hale recorded 29 assists, six kills and eight digs, while Mil’lanni Marte collected a team-high 17 digs along with a service ace.
Elizabeth City State Statistical Leaders
Jazzmyn Davis paced Elizabeth City State with 16 kills and 16.0 points, hitting .270. Kendall Washington added 14 kills, 17 digs and a block assist. Valeria Miranda recorded 22 digs, five assists and a service ace.
Cadence Rascoe contributed six total blocks, including four solo blocks, and added four kills. Elizabeth City State hit .220 for the match compared with .126 for Bowie State.
