Jacob Hicks scored the first two goals of his career as the McDaniel College men’s soccer team defeated Gwynedd Mercy 6-0 on Sept. 23, 2026, in Gwynedd Valley, Pa. The road victory improved McDaniel to 6-0-1 and extended its unbeaten streak to seven matches.
McDaniel College men’s soccer team dominates early
McDaniel built a 4-0 lead at halftime after scoring four times in the opening 45 minutes. Trevor Grodsky opened the scoring in the ninth minute with his first career goal on a penalty kick, and Hicks added his first goal in the 24th minute.
Charlie Olson and Nicholas Clarke also scored in the first half. Callen Kleinschmidt assisted on Clarke’s goal and recorded his first career point, while Clarke’s goal was his team-leading seventh.
Hicks, Peri complete scoring barrage
Gaston Peri scored his first career goal in the 81st minute to extend McDaniel’s lead to five. Hicks added his second goal in the 85th minute with Quinn Pudloski providing the assist.
McDaniel outshot Gwynedd Mercy 32-8, including a dominant 26-1 advantage during the first half. The Green Terror also finished with a 14-4 edge in shots on goal.
McDaniel records another shutout
Gavin Yartymyk, Joseph Peloquin and Ben Cunningham combined for four saves and preserved the shutout. Peloquin had three saves as McDaniel recorded its third shutout of the season.
The six-goal victory marked McDaniel’s largest margin since a 6-0 win over Christendom on Oct. 5, 2022. McDaniel also defeated Gwynedd Mercy 6-0 on Sept. 19, 2022.
McDaniel will return to Centennial Conference play Saturday at noon at Ursinus.
