Anthony Eyanson was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Year, highlighting a four-player All-Star group from the Chesapeake Baysox in the 2026 Eastern League awards announced by Major League Baseball on September 21, 2026. Starting pitchers Eyanson and Joseph Dzierwa, relief pitcher Micah Ashman, and catcher Ethan Anderson represented the Chesapeake Baysox on the Eastern League All-Star team.
The four selections tied the Chesapeake Baysox franchise record for Eastern League All-Stars. The 2014 Baysox were the only other Chesapeake team to produce four league All-Stars.
Anthony Eyanson Earns Pitcher of the Year Award
Eyanson split the season between the Portland Sea Dogs and Chesapeake Baysox organizations. He made 17 appearances, including 16 starts, and went 6-1 with a 1.82 ERA in 79 innings, recording 107 strikeouts and 32 walks.
Eyanson’s 1.82 ERA led the Eastern League among pitchers with at least 79 innings, while his 12.19 strikeouts per nine innings ranked fourth. After joining the Baysox following his acquisition by the Orioles in the Adley Rutschman trade, he went 2-1 with a 2.03 ERA in six starts, striking out 47 batters and walking nine. His 47 strikeouts were most in the league and second in all full-season Minor League Baseball from his Baysox debut on August 8 until the end of the Double-A regular season. Eyanson logged his lone two quality starts in his last four outings of the season with Chesapeake, including a career-high seven innings, allowing just one run on August 20 against Richmond. He did not allow more than one run and struck out at least seven in each of his final four outings.
Eyanson became the fifth Chesapeake Baysox pitcher to win the Eastern League Pitcher of the Year award and the first since Grayson Rodriguez in 2021. The other franchise winners are Keegan Akin, Brad Bergesen, and John Stephens.
Three Baysox Pitchers and Catcher Earn All-Star Honors
Dzierwa made 18 appearances, including 16 starts, for the Chesapeake Baysox and finished with a 4-1 record and a 2.29 ERA. He struck out 99 batters and walked 20 in 90 1/3 innings, while also recording four quality starts and five scoreless starts.
Anderson hit .271 in 82 Double-A games for Chesapeake, with 21 home runs, 47 RBIs, and an .881 OPS. His home-run total led all Eastern League catchers and ranked eighth overall in the league. He was promoted to Triple-A Norfolk on September 15.
Ashman made 35 relief appearances for the Chesapeake Baysox and went 2-2 with a 1.68 ERA, five saves, 77 strikeouts, and 13 walks in 48 1/3 innings. His 1.68 ERA as a reliever ranked second in the Eastern League and fifth in full-season Minor League Baseball among pitchers with at least 45 relief innings.
