The Hagerstown Flying Boxcars announced the opening of a new Sensory Room at Meritus Park, providing children and adults with a safe, quiet space to step away from the sights, sounds and activity of the ballpark. The room gives fans an opportunity to reset before returning to enjoy the game when they are ready.
The Sensory Room is part of the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars6 continued commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive experience for every fan. The organization also became a certified sensory-friendly venue through Kulture City.
Hagerstown Flying Boxcars Add Sensory-Friendly Resources
Sensory bags are available at Fan Services for fans who may benefit from them. The bags include headphones, strobe-light-reduction glasses and sensory toys.
The dedicated room gives children and adults another option when they need time away from the activity at Meritus Park. Fans can use the space to take a moment for themselves before returning to the game when they feel comfortable.
Community Partners Support Meritus Park Project
The initiative received support and partnership from Landon6s Project, the Arc of Washington County, Morgan-Keller, Wade Architecture, contractors and other community partners. Their contributions helped bring the Sensory Room project to life at Meritus Park.
