Johns Hopkins University Athletics’ women’s tennis completed the Villanova/Delaware Invitational on Saturday, September 20, 2026, with matches against Cornell and Villanova. Johns Hopkins women’s tennis recorded seven singles victories during the event in Newark, Delaware.
The team is scheduled to return to competition Friday, September 25, at the ITA Southeast Regional in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The regional is Johns Hopkins’ next scheduled event.
Johns Hopkins Women’s Tennis Singles Results
Against Cornell, Lia Melvin defeated Michelle Ryndin 7-5, 7-6, Victoria Zhao defeated Sydney Langer 7-5, 6-2, and Martha Thompson defeated Claire Loftus 1-6, 6-1, 1-0.
Johns Hopkins added four singles victories against Villanova. Isabelle Emmanuel defeated Jenna Stevens 7-6, 6-1; Isabel He defeated Maddie Hills 6-2, 6-2; Anne Moody defeated Sophia Kim 6-3, 6-4; and Alina Kornyeva defeated Sahana Sanjeev 6-4, 6-3.
Jasmine Nguyen lost to Bella De Luise 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 in another singles match against Villanova.
Doubles Results Against Cornell and Villanova
Against Cornell, Sydney Langer and Jasmine Nguyen lost 8-3 to Sage Loudon and Michelle Ryndin. Lia Melvin and Ruth Sun lost 8-6 to Athena Orzechowski and Martha Thompson, while Isabelle Emmanuel and Isabel He lost 8-7 to Dylan Gelber and Tanika Saravanan.
Against Villanova, Sophia Kim and Sahana Sanjeev defeated Jenna Stevens and Lauren Monti 8-7. Claire Loftus and Sahana Madala also earned a victory, defeating Olivia Corcoran and Emersyn Isaac 8-6.
