The Coppin State University women’s volleyball team defeated New Haven 3-1 on Sept. 20, 2026, at The Hazell Center in West Haven, Connecticut, to extend its winning streak to seven matches. Coppin State won by set scores of 25-22, 25-14, 25-27 and 25-19 to improve to 8-5. The victory completed a 4-0 weekend in Connecticut.

Coppin State University produced a balanced offensive performance, with four players recording at least 10 kills. Deviana Walker led the Eagles with 14 kills, while Ivanna Luna added 12. Kayden Cupid and Rori Gray each finished with 11 kills, with Gray hitting .500 and Cupid recording a .474 hitting percentage.
Cupid also matched her career high with 10 blocks and recorded a double-double. It was the third 10-block match of her career and her second of the season. Cupid moved into eighth place on Coppin State’s all-time blocks list with 174 career blocks, passing Indira Laurencin, Salena Weekly and Geraldyn Palacios.
The Eagles held a 13-4 advantage in blocks and a 61-48 edge in kills. Coppin State hit .312 for the match, compared with .162 for New Haven. Luna and Walker each added four blocks, while Coco Figueroa and Andrea Cintron recorded two service aces apiece.
New Haven rallies before Coppin State closes
Coppin State opened the match by taking the first two sets, but New Haven extended the contest with a 27-25 victory in the third. The Eagles responded in the fourth set with 15 kills and a .324 hitting percentage to secure the 25-19 win.
Eva Rovello directed the offense with 42 assists, six kills and 10 digs for her league-leading seventh double-double of the season. Figueroa posted a match-high 19 digs, while Rovello added 10 and Pamela De Jesus Tejedor finished with seven.
The victory capped a 4-0 weekend for Coppin State, which also collected wins over UConn, Rhode Island and Merrimack at the Huskies’ For The White & Blue Tournament. Coppin State will travel to Washington, D.C., to face Howard on Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. in its MEAC opener. The Eagles will then visit Norfolk State on Sept. 27 before hosting Loyola Maryland at PEC Arena on Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. for their home opener.
