Caroline Carter recorded 13 kills and six service aces as Goucher women’s volleyball defeated Eastern Mennonite 3-1 on Sept. 19, 2026, in Baltimore. After dropping the opening set 25-14, Goucher won the next three sets 25-23, 25-20 and 25-23.
Caroline Carter Powers Goucher’s Comeback
Carter led Goucher’s attack and serving effort during the four-set victory. Sofia Ortiz added 22 assists, three service aces and 17 digs, while Athena Savick also recorded 17 digs.
Kanay Parham, AaShyah De Vries and Juliana Stoneberg each recorded a block for Goucher. Eastern Mennonite’s Haley Atkins finished with 11 kills and five blocks, while Emerson Moats recorded 14 digs and four service aces.
Goucher Wins Three Consecutive Sets
Eastern Mennonite built a 10-4 lead in the second set, but Goucher rallied behind kills from Carter, Parham, Stoneberg and Alex Dzhygit. Goucher moved ahead 23-21 before closing the set 25-23 to even the match.
The Royals opened the third set with a 10-0 run. Goucher battled back to tie the set at 14 on a service ace from Savick, then scored six consecutive points to take a 20-17 lead before Dzhygit finished the 25-20 victory with a kill.
The fourth set remained close before Eastern Mennonite took a 23-20 lead. Goucher answered with five straight points, including a kill and service ace from Ortiz, and Carter delivered the match-winning kill for the 25-23 set victory.
Team Statistics and Upcoming Matches
Eastern Mennonite held advantages in hitting percentage, .092 to .035, and blocks, 7.0 to 3.0. Goucher led in digs, 72-66, while both teams recorded 11 aces.
Goucher was scheduled to travel to Notre Dame (Md.) on Wednesday, Sept. 23, for a nonconference match. The team was also scheduled to host Cheyney and Gwynedd Mercy in a tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
