Mount St. Mary’s University men’s tennis defeated Morgan State 4-3 on Sept. 19, 2026, during the second day of the McClure Invitational in Baltimore, Maryland. The event was hosted by Loyola, and Stefanos Pournaropoulos won in both singles and doubles for Mount St. Mary’s.
Mount St. Mary’s swept all three doubles matches and won two of five singles matches. The final day of the McClure Invitational was scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 20.
Mount St. Mary’s Sweeps Doubles
Sergei Likhogrud and Stefanos Pournaropoulos defeated Ilya Maltsev and Abdulraheem Isa 7-5. Alexi Roy and Nick Makris followed with a 6-2 victory over Yessine Kerouat and Mohamed Ridha Ghettas.
Alessio Guarino and Nate Helms completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win over Jacob Poole and Antonio Santos.
Singles Results: Pournaropoulos and Ryan Wagner Win Matches
Stefanos Pournaropoulos defeated Ilya Maltsev 6-1, 6-2. Ryan Wagner also earned a singles victory, defeating Abdulraheem Isa 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
Morgan State won the other three singles matches. Yessine Kerouat defeated Alexi Roy 7-6 (8-6), 1-6, 10-8; Mohamed Ridha Ghettas defeated Federico Strocchi 6-1, 4-6; and Jacob Poole defeated Alessio Guarino 6-2, 6-3.
