Mount St. Mary’s University men’s water polo lost to No. 5 Fordham, 23-5, and MIT, 15-10, on Sept. 19 at the Bucknell Invite in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The losses dropped Mount St. Mary’s to 3-6 on the season.
Fordham Defeats Mount St. Mary’s, 23-5
Matias Miranda scored a hat trick against Fordham, while Luka Urosevic and Will Matthews each added a goal. Fordham led 13-1 at halftime after holding Mount St. Mary’s scoreless in the first quarter.
Miranda scored Mount St. Mary’s only goal in the second quarter and added another in the third. The Mountaineers scored three times in the fourth quarter, with Miranda, Urosevic and Matthews finding the net.
Mount St. Mary’s Scores 10 Goals Against MIT
Mount St. Mary’s scored 10 goals in its second game of the day against MIT. Luka Urosevic and Neven Cerkez each scored three goals, while Aleksandar Radosavljevic added two.
Jack Fox and Aaron Tarr also scored for the Mountaineers. MIT led 3-2 after the first quarter, 9-6 at halftime and 12-8 entering the fourth quarter before completing the 15-10 win.
Linc Smith recorded nine saves across the two games. Mount St. Mary’s will face LIU at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, in the final day of the Bucknell Invite.
