Coppin State University Women’s Volleyball Defeats UConn 3-1 in Four-Set Victory

Coppin State University women’s volleyball defeated UConn, 3-1, on Sept. 18, 2026, at the UConn Volleyball Center in Storrs, Conn., during the White & Blue Tournament. The Eagles won the final three sets, 25-23, 25-12 and 25-18, after UConn took the opener, 25-23. The victory was Coppin State University’s fourth consecutive win and evened its overall record at 5-5.

Coppin State University controlled the match defensively, recording 16 total blocks and limiting UConn to a .066 hitting percentage. The Eagles also held advantages in blocks, 16-10; digs, 46-40; and service aces, 6-2. UConn finished with 45 kills and 36 attack errors, while Coppin State University recorded 41 kills and hit .186.

Eva Rovello Leads Coppin State University Women’s Volleyball

Eva Rovello recorded a double-double with 26 assists and 14 digs. She also added five kills on 11 attacks for a .455 hitting percentage and contributed four blocks, including two solo blocks.

Kayden Cupid finished with eight kills on nine attacks for a .778 hitting percentage and registered a match-high six blocks. Cherisse Atilano led Coppin State University with 12 kills while adding six digs and one ace, and Ivanna Luna contributed seven kills and four blocks.

Andrea Cintron recorded 11 digs, while Coco Figueroa added six digs and two aces. Aya Rawlins also recorded two aces.

Coppin State University Controls the Final Three Sets

After UConn won the opening set, Coppin State University answered with a 25-23 victory in the second set. The Eagles then seized control in the third set, hitting .368 while limiting UConn to a minus-.182 hitting percentage in a 25-12 win.

Coppin State University closed the match with a 25-18 fourth-set victory while UConn hit .000. The Eagles hit .143 in the final set to secure the four-set win.

Coppin State University was scheduled to play Rhode Island at 2:30 p.m. and Merrimack at 6:30 p.m. Saturday to conclude the White & Blue Tournament. The Eagles were also scheduled to play at New Haven at 3 p.m. Sunday.

MSB Analysis

Coppin State University’s blocking advantage defined the match after UConn took the opening set. The Eagles finished with 16 blocks to UConn’s 10 and also created separation with advantages in digs and service aces.

Rovello’s double-double supported Coppin State University on both sides of the net, while Cupid’s six blocks and .778 hitting percentage highlighted the individual performances. The win moved the MEAC program to 5-5 and extended its winning streak to four matches.
