Howard Community College Dragons men’s and women’s cross country teams finished second and third, respectively, at the Seahawk Classic in Hughesville, Maryland, on September 18, 2026. The women’s team posted a season-best second-place overall finish, while the men’s team placed third at Howard Community College’s second cross-country meet of the season.
Howard Community College Women’s Cross Country Finishes Second
Savannah Wilson, Katy Spence and Samuel Venegas led the Dragons in top individual results. Wilson finished seventh overall in the women’s race with a time of 31:00.7, while Spence placed 10th, defeating St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Aurora Della-Giacoma by 0.3 seconds in a photo finish.
Myah Van Jones finished 13th in the women’s race with a time of 34:31. Nyla Mathew placed 18th in 38:33.1, and Cynthia Crump finished 21st in 47:11.6.
The Seahawk Classic course included multiple hills and wooded sections. The field also included four-year schools.
Samuel Venegas Leads Howard Community College Men’s Cross Country
Sophomore Samuel Venegas led the Howard Community College men’s team with a fourth-place overall finish in 30:16. Nico Salvia followed in 13th with a time of 33:54.8.
Gabriel Kondeh finished 20th in 38:17.1, two seconds ahead of Goucher College’s Antoine Padonou. Jaden Goins finished 22nd in 40:00.1.
Howard Community College’s Next Meet
Howard Community College will compete next at Salisbury University on Saturday, October 3, at the Don Cathcart Invitational.
Maryland Sports Blog Take
