D.C. United Announces Multi-Year Partnership with Theta Labs for AI-Powered Fan Support

D.C. United announced a multi-year partnership with Theta Labs on Sept. 17, 2026, to integrate artificial intelligence into the Major League Soccer club’s website. The agreement will give fans access to an AI agent that delivers real-time information and personalized digital support.

The technology is trained on data from D.C. United and Major League Soccer and deployed on Theta EdgeCloud’s distributed GPU infrastructure. It uses Retrieval Augmented Generation, producing responses based on verified club and league sources rather than the model’s general training data.

What D.C. United’s AI Agent Will Provide

The system offers information about schedules, results and roster details, along with live matchday updates, lineups, statistics, parking and venue details for home games at Audi Field in Southwest Washington, D.C.

Additional features include player statistics, injury updates, historical data and performance metrics. Fan engagement tools such as trivia, polls, and interactive content are also part of the package, along with support for merchandise, ticketing, team gear information and behind-the-scenes content.

Leonard Edwards, D.C. United’s senior vice president and head of corporate partnerships, said the club embraced the partnership as a way to enhance connections with supporters.

“D.C. United are proud to welcome Theta Labs to the Black-and-Red family this season and beyond,” Edwards said. “Innovation drives progress through technology, and we are excited to elevate fan engagement while creating new ways for our supporters to connect with the club.”

D.C. United Becomes Third Major League Soccer Theta Labs Partner

D.C. United is the third Major League Soccer club to partner with Theta Labs. Mitch Liu, founder and CEO of Theta Labs, said the company was pleased to bring its technology to the team’s supporters at Audi Field.

“D.C. United are one of the most exciting and prestigious clubs in Major League Soccer, and we are thrilled to put our technology in front of their supporters. Audi Field sits in the heart of the nation’s capital, and having an AI agent built on Theta EdgeCloud serving Black-and-Red fans there is something we are genuinely proud of. This is the most exciting U.S. sports deployment we have done to date, and we think it points to where fan engagement is heading across the league,” Liu said.

D.C. United Partnership Adds Digital Fan Tools

One of Major League Soccer’s founding clubs in 1996, D.C. United plays home games at Audi Field and has won four MLS Cups, four Supporters’ Shields and three Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cups.

The partnership provides supporters with digital tools for accessing club and league information and enhances fan engagement through interactive content, ticketing assistance, merchandise information and behind-the-scenes material.
