Howard Community College women’s soccer took an early lead but fell 4-1 to CCBC Essex on Sept. 17 at CCBC Essex Stadium in Rosedale, Maryland.
Gabriela Rodriguez put Howard Community College ahead three minutes into the match after capitalizing on a mistake by the CCBC Essex defense. Her goal gave the visitors a 1-0 advantage.
CCBC Essex Scores Four Unanswered Goals
CCBC Essex tied the match in the 34th minute when Aubrey O’Connell scored on an assist from Chelsea Stubel. Allison Forsythe gave CCBC Essex the lead two minutes later, sending the hosts into halftime ahead 2-1.
Forsythe scored again in the 79th minute with an assist from Casey Reese. O’Connell added her second goal less than a minute later, completing CCBC Essex’s four-goal run.
Sophia Newman Makes Thirteen Saves
Howard Community College goalkeeper Sophia Newman made thirteen saves during the match. Rodriguez recorded both of Howard Community College’s shots on goal, including an attempt in the 81st minute that CCBC Essex goalkeeper Allyson Foos stopped.
The loss dropped Howard Community College to 2-4-0, while CCBC Essex improved to 6-0-0. Howard Community College is scheduled to host Hagerstown on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 4:30 p.m.
