Notre Dame of Maryland University Women’s Volleyball Falls to Penn State York in Five Sets

Notre Dame of Maryland University women’s volleyball rallied from a two-set deficit before falling to Penn State York, 3-2, on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the MBK Sports Complex.

Penn State York won the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-19. Notre Dame of Maryland answered with a 26-24 victory in the third set and a 25-16 win in the fourth before Penn State York secured the deciding set, 15-11.

Notre Dame of Maryland struggled offensively in the opening two sets before taking the third set and forcing a deciding frame. The team hit .378 in the fourth set, while it finished the match with a .151 hitting percentage.

Penn State York hit .252 for the match. Notre Dame of Maryland was listed at 2-5 overall and 0-0 in the United East Conference after the loss.

Bryanna Carter leads Notre Dame of Maryland

Bryanna Carter led Notre Dame of Maryland with 21 kills and a .366 attack percentage. Kaliyah Brown added 19 kills and led all players with 22 digs, a career high for the senior.

Oliviya Rodriguez recorded a career-high 49 assists, the newest single-game high mark in the United East Conference that season. The freshman also recorded a double-double with 12 digs, four kills and three aces.

Izzy Stewart recorded 19 digs and led Notre Dame of Maryland with five aces. Carissa Tanseco added 17 digs off the bench.
