Coppin State University men’s tennis team opened its 2026 fall schedule with three matches at the Loyola Invitational from Sept. 11-13. Mpho Leshoele won singles matches against Loyola Maryland and Howard during the weekend.
Mpho Leshoele Wins Against Loyola Maryland and Howard
Coppin State University fell to Loyola Maryland, 6-1, on Sept. 11. Leshoele earned the Eagles’ lone victory, defeating David Suarez, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 3 singles.
Leshoele added another straight-set victory against Howard on Sept. 12, defeating Lash, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2 singles. In doubles, Leshoele and Andre Dogbefu fell to Major and Alfred, 7-6 (4), at No. 2.
Dogbefu also faced Major at No. 1 singles and lost, 6-3, 7-5. Flavius Henderson II, Dentry Mortimer and Malcolm Moore also competed in singles for Coppin State University against Howard.
Georgetown Wins Completed Matches
Georgetown won the first two completed doubles matches against Coppin State University on Sept. 13. Waleed Qadir and Jackson Mountford defeated Mortimer and Henderson, 6-3, while Jonah Hill and Dean Rostom defeated Awungjia Mbelem and Dogbefu, 6-2.
Georgetown also won the three completed singles matches listed in the results. Hill defeated Dogbefu, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1 singles; Mountford defeated Henderson, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2; and Rostom defeated Mortimer, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 3.

Leshoele provided Coppin State University men’s tennis team with its two individual wins at the Loyola Invitational. His victories over David Suarez and Lash came in straight sets and represented Coppin State’s wins against Loyola Maryland and Howard.
The weekend also included a close doubles tiebreaker against Howard, while Dogbefu lost to Major in a two-set singles match decided by a late second-set margin. Coppin State University faced Loyola Maryland on Sept. 11, Howard on Sept. 12 and Georgetown on Sept. 13.
