Norfolk Tides Will Resume Nashville Sounds Game Sunday After Weather Postponement

The Norfolk Tides postponed their Saturday, August 22, game against the Nashville Sounds because of inclement weather at Harbor Park. The Friday, August 21, game between the teams was canceled, while Saturday’s game will resume Sunday, August 23, as part of a single-admission doubleheader.

Game Will Resume From 3-1 Count

Saturday’s game lasted only four pitches before weather stopped play. Cade Povich was pitching for the Norfolk Tides with a 3-1 count against Nashville Sounds leadoff hitter Sal Frelick when play was halted.

The game will resume at 12:05 p.m. Sunday, August 23, as the first game of the doubleheader. Gates at Harbor Park will open at 11 a.m. The doubleheader will feature two seven-inning games.

Fireworks Rescheduled for September 4

The fireworks scheduled for Saturday night were rescheduled for Friday, September 4, pending approval from the City of Norfolk Fire Marshal. The source announcement did not provide a replacement date for Friday’s canceled game.

Norfolk Tides Ticket Exchange Information

Fans with individual tickets for August 22 may exchange them at the Harbor Park box office for tickets of equal or lesser value to any remaining 2026 regular-season home game. Fans must obtain new tickets and choose new seats, as the same seats cannot be guaranteed.

Fans who paid for parking through the City of Norfolk will receive a refund to the credit card used for the parking purchase. Sunday’s doubleheader will begin with the continuation of Saturday’s game, followed by the second seven-inning contest.

Maryland Sports Blog Take

The weather postponement leaves the Norfolk Tides and Nashville Sounds with a Sunday doubleheader that will begin by finishing a game barely underway. Continuing from Cade Povich’s 3-1 count against Sal Frelick provides a precise starting point for the rescheduled contest, while the ticket-exchange policy offers an option for fans with August 22 tickets.
