Stevenson University women’s volleyball opened MAC Commonwealth play with a 3-1 victory over Alvernia University on September 15, 2026, at Owings Mills Gymnasium in Owings Mills, Maryland. Stevenson won by set scores of 25-15, 25-13, 23-25 and 25-13.
The victory improved Stevenson to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in MAC Commonwealth play. Rachel Lenz led all players with 18 kills on 36 attacks while hitting .389.
Stevenson University Women’s Volleyball Takes Early Control
Stevenson opened the match with a 3-0 lead behind kills from Rachel Lenz and Logan Burge. Two service aces from Burge and another Lenz kill helped the Mustangs extend their advantage to 10-2.
Alvernia attempted to close the gap, but Stevenson continued to find success offensively. Autumn Henry and Burge contributed points at the net, and Henry recorded the final two kills of the set as Stevenson won 25-15.
Stevenson carried that momentum into the second set and pulled ahead 14-7 after taking an early 7-5 lead. Lenz recorded back-to-back service aces during the run, while Lenz and Sydney Salazar added kills.
Allison Gaus then delivered consecutive service aces to move Stevenson ahead 24-12. Lenz finished the set with a kill, giving the Mustangs a 25-13 win and a 2-0 match lead.
Alvernia Takes Third Set Before Stevenson Responds
Alvernia answered in the third set after Stevenson opened with a 3-0 advantage behind two early Lenz kills. The Golden Wolves moved in front 10-7 before Stevenson rallied to tie the set at 15-15.
Declyn Tooze contributed two service aces during the comeback, and Zoya Fazal added a kill. Charlotte McClain, Salazar and Lenz helped Stevenson pull within one point at 22-23, but Alvernia scored the final two points to win the set 25-23.
Stevenson regained control in the fourth set by opening with a 5-1 lead. Kills from Fazal and Henry, along with an Alvernia attack error, helped the Mustangs build their early advantage.
A Lenz kill and a block involving Lenz and Lillianna Hornickle extended Stevenson’s lead to 13-3. Isabella Terra added a late service ace, and Lenz closed the match with a kill in the 25-13 set victory.
Rachel Lenz Leads Stevenson University Women’s Volleyball Attack
Lenz finished with a match-high 18 kills on 36 attacks and hit .389. Sydney Salazar added 11 kills on 21 attacks with a .476 hitting percentage, while Henry recorded nine kills and Burge contributed five.
Stevenson finished with 53 kills and a .333 team hitting percentage. Alvernia recorded a .128 hitting percentage.

Stevenson will play McDaniel College at 10 a.m. and Marymount University at noon on September 19, 2026, at the McDaniel Tri-Match.
