Hood College women’s golf team opened its season with an 11th-place finish at the Shenandoah Fall Invite after 36 holes at Cacapon State Park Golf Course in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. The Blazers posted a 717 team score, finishing 18 strokes behind 10th-place Batten University.
Olivia Kamieniarz Sets First-Year Mark
Olivia Kamieniarz recorded an 82 in the first round, the lowest score ever by a first-year student in the Hood College women’s golf program. The score tied for 10th all time. Kamieniarz started the tournament in the top 25 after recording six pars and a birdie over the first 18 holes.
She added two birdies on the second day. Mia Cheesebrough shot an 85 on the first day and finished with a 36-hole score of 172, establishing personal records for both her first-day score and tournament total.
Hood College Finishes Just Outside Top 10
Hood College was ranked just inside the top 10 after the first day. Kamieniarz, Cheesebrough and Gabi Miller each birdied Hole 3, while Emily White birdied Hole 11 and Keira Corcoran birdied Hole 18.
Juliette Coffey of Batten University won the individual title after shooting even par for the tournament. Batten University finished first by two strokes.
Next Event
Hood College will compete in the Stevenson Tri-Match at Fox Hollow Golf Club on Friday, September 18. Stevenson will host the event.
