Bowie State University Women’s Volleyball Carries 2-2 Record Into Norfolk State University Match

Bowie State University women’s volleyball will visit Norfolk State University at 6 p.m. Eastern Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Gill Gymnasium in Norfolk, Virginia. The nonconference match marks Bowie State’s final road contest before CIAA play.

Bowie State Opens Season 2-2

Bowie State enters the match with a 2-2 record after playing four matches at the Fairmont State Classic on Aug. 28-29. The Bulldogs opened with a 3-0 loss to Fairmont State, followed by a 3-1 victory over Lees-McRae.

Bowie State then lost to Anderson (S.C.) in three sets before defeating Lees-McRae again. Head coach Edric Poitier enters his fifth season leading the program.

The Bulldogs finished the 2025 season with a 14-18 overall record and a 9-7 CIAA record before advancing to the semifinals of the CIAA Championship Tournament. Bowie State returns nine players and added transfer setter Gabby Hale, who earned First Team All-CIAA honors at Bluefield State last season and was selected to the 2026 Preseason All-CIAA Team.

Norfolk State Also Enters at 2-2

Norfolk State enters the match with a 2-2 record in 2026. The Spartans opened with a 3-1 loss to USC Upstate, then defeated Elon 3-1.

Norfolk State later lost to Old Dominion in three sets before earning a 3-2 victory over Hampton. Head coach Kathy Bullock enters her eighth season leading the Spartans.

Norfolk State finished the 2025 season with a 5-24 overall record and a 3-11 MEAC record.

Bowie State’s CIAA Schedule Begins Sept. 21

After Tuesday’s match, Bowie State will host Virginia State at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at A.C. Jordan Arena in a CIAA contest. The Bulldogs will then host Elizabeth City State and Virginia Union in consecutive conference matches.
