The Baltimore Ravens started off the Jesse Minter era about as well as anyone could ask for as they took care of business defeating Indianapolis 41-23, and getting their first win of 2026 on the road.
It was a semi slow start as Indianapolis went down the field in nine plays to open the games scoring on a Jonathan Taylor one-yard run.
But from that moment on it would be all Ravens as they would score on three of their next four drives, with only their third drive stalling at the Indianapolis three-yard line in an aggressive move by Minter, that did not pay off in the moment.
The Ravens would cap off the first half with a Tyler Loop 57-yard field goal taking a 31-13 lead into the locker room. The main story of the first half was Zay Flowers who had racked up 150 receiving yards on five catches to go along with one touchdown. Flowers would not play a snap in the second half however, as he was ruled out with a hamstring injury. Flowers is said to be day-to-day. Ravens rookie receiver Ja’Kobi Lane also did not play in the second half as he reportedly fractured his wrist. Lane will likely be placed on injured reserve as the injury is expected to have him miss several months. Wide receiver Chris Moore who was elevated from the practice squad prior to Sundays game was the unsung hero as he quickly took on a larger role following the injuries to Flowers and Lane. Moore had a huge catch on third and five to begin the fourth quarter when Jackson would find the veteran receiver for a 53-yard catch and run. Moore was also impactful in the return game, as he averaged 30-yards per return on four kick returns.
The scoring slowed in the second half, as the Ravens would only find the end zone once on a Derrick Henry three-yard run to go along with a Loop 45-yard field goal with 4:09 left to play to finish off the 41-23 victory. It was the Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry show as Henry went for 144 yards on 24 carries, adding three touchdowns. While Jackson went 17-for-25 for 324 yards through the air, and one touchdown, while also adding 40 yards on the ground.
The Ravens new look defense made their presence known as they forced two turnovers both of which led to Ravens touchdowns. Jesse Minters defense allowed just 251 total yards with only 149 of those yards through the air as they held Indianapolis quarterback Daniel Jones in check.
Overall it was a great showing for the Ravens on Sunday as they played complementary football, but one area the Ravens desperately need to clean up the penalties as they totaled 10 penalties for 85-yards, with one holding penalty taking away a touchdown to Ja’Kobi Lane in the first half. In comparison Indianapolis was only penalized four times for a total 29-yards. The amount of penalties did not hurt the Ravens too much on Sunday, but it will certainly be a point of emphasis for Minter this week, as the Ravens get set to take on the New Orleans Saints in week two in the Ravens home opener of the 2026 season.
