Frostburg State University women’s field hockey team lost 2-0 to No. 3 Newberry at Bobcat Stadium in Frostburg, Maryland, on Sunday afternoon, September 13, 2026. Newberry scored once in each of the first two periods and held Frostburg scoreless throughout the contest.
Amber Tozana opened the scoring for Newberry with an assist from Parker Keeler. Keeler later scored the second goal, assisted by Elise Santhagen, giving Newberry a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Newberry Holds Shot Advantage
Newberry finished with a 24-8 advantage in shots and placed 18 shots on goal compared with five for Frostburg State. Freshman goalkeeper Jenna Yazzetti made multiple saves, while junior Piper Taylor cleared a Newberry shot off the line.
Frostburg State created opportunities in the first half. Sophomore Ava Shorkey had a shot saved by Newberry goalkeeper Kensley Harris, and freshman Alayna Enoff also saw a shot denied by Harris.
The Bobcats continued to generate chances after halftime. Senior Sofia Boyle had one shot saved and another blocked in the third period, while sophomore Sabrina Maldonado and senior Mikyla Rineer had fourth-period attempts stopped by Newberry goalkeeper Cayla Wiggins.

The loss dropped Frostburg State to 2-3 on the season, while Newberry improved to 2-1. Frostburg State will face Converse at Bobcat Stadium on Saturday, September 19, at 1 p.m.
