Salisbury University women’s soccer fell to the John Carroll University Blue Streaks, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex in Salisbury, Maryland. The match was the final fixture of the Salisbury University Classic.
The Salisbury University Sea Gulls entered the match at 0-4-1, while John Carroll University entered at 2-2-1. The teams remained scoreless through halftime. John Carroll University then scored in the 55th and 74th minutes.
John Carroll University Breaks Scoreless Match
Salisbury University created an early opportunity when Brooke Spadin had a chance in the eighth minute, but John Carroll University goalkeeper Madison Skeese stopped the attempt. Aley Martins saved a shot around eight minutes later and made two more first-half saves to keep the match tied at 0-0.
Brooke Berkowitz put the John Carroll University Blue Streaks ahead in the 55th minute. Avery Berner added the second goal in the 74th minute, with Bella Carcelli providing the assist.
Salisbury University tried to cut into the deficit when Ava Wheeler took a shot on goal, but Skeese kept the attempt out. Skeese also stopped Audrey Kregelka’s final attempt of the afternoon.
Salisbury University Women’s Soccer Statistical Leaders
John Carroll University recorded nine shots on goal, compared with four for Salisbury University. Spadin led the Sea Gulls with three shots, while Skylar Williams and Talyn Catena recorded two shots apiece.
Martins made three saves in the first half for Salisbury University. Riley Kinzeler played the second half and made four saves.
