Sydney Fleming scored her first goal of the 2026 season, but Hood College women’s field hockey fell 3-1 to Randolph-Macon on Sept. 12 at Thomas Athletic Field in Ashland, Va. Randolph-Macon received two goals from Janne Roelink and one from Olivia Greene in the victory.
Sydney Fleming Scores Hood College’s Goal
Randolph-Macon opened the scoring in the first quarter before Hood College responded. Fleming tied the game after receiving passes from Madeline Moreno and Becca Medina, giving Hood its only goal of the afternoon.
Moreno recorded two shots on goal and assisted on Fleming’s tally. Randolph-Macon regained the lead in the third quarter, and Roelink added her second goal in the fourth quarter to complete the 3-1 result.
Hood College Holds Statistical Advantages
Hood College outshot Randolph-Macon 13-10 and earned 10 penalty corners compared with three for Randolph-Macon. Valentina Ambrogi-Torres made six saves for the Yellow Jackets.
Allison Wallin made two saves during 30 minutes of playing time for Hood College. Harper Buettner entered as Hood College’s goalkeeper in the second half and earned varsity playing time.
Hood College Women’s Field Hockey Scheduled to Host Juniata
Hood College was scheduled to host Juniata College on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field. The game follows Hood’s 13-shot and 10-penalty-corner performance against Randolph-Macon.
