Adam Labows made six saves as Hood College Men’s Soccer fell 3-0 to Shenandoah on Sept. 12 in Winchester, Va., in a Middle Atlantic Conference match. Shenandoah scored twice in the first half and added a third goal in the 79th minute to earn its first win of the season.
Shenandoah Takes Two-Goal Halftime Lead
Shenandoah pressured Hood College early and forced Labows to make a save 37 seconds into the match. Andrew Menendez then scored the opening goal in the fourth minute, with Jarbin Rodriguez recording the assist.
Hood College created its first quality opportunity in the 15th minute when Aidan Wright put a shot on target. Shenandoah goalkeeper Aidan King-Miller made the save before Hatim Elkhasouani converted a penalty kick in the 40th minute to make it 2-0.
Labows kept Hood College within reach with four first-half saves. Shenandoah carried its two-goal advantage into halftime.
Shenandoah Adds Goal After Red Card
Caleb Terry forced a save less than three minutes into the second half, but Hood College could not cut into the deficit. Shenandoah’s Mudd received a red card in the 67th minute, leaving the Hornets with 10 players for the remainder of regulation.
Shenandoah still extended its lead in the 79th minute when Luca Pickeral scored. Shenandoah finished with a 15-6 advantage in shots, while Wright and Terry each recorded a shot on goal for Hood College.
Shenandoah received nine cards, including two red cards. Hood College fell to 2-3 and dropped three of its last four matches, while Shenandoah earned its first victory after opening the season with two consecutive draws.

Hood College travels to Marymount on Wednesday, September 16, for a nonconference match scheduled for 7 p.m.
