Bowie State University Athletics Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country Teams Open 2026 at Delaware State Invitational

Bowie State University Athletics’ men’s and women’s cross-country teams will begin the 2026 season Friday, Sept. 11, at the Delaware State Invitational in Dover, Delaware. The meet is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Delaware State University and will give both Bowie State squads an opportunity to compete against regional competition.

The Delaware State Invitational marks the first competition for the Bulldogs as they launch their 2026 cross-country campaign.

Bowie State Cross-Country Schedule

The Delaware State Invitational will be the first competition of the 2026 season for the Bowie State Bulldogs. The meet will also provide the teams with an opportunity to gain experience, improve their times and prepare for the championship portion of the season.

Bowie State will next compete in the Virginia State Challenge on Sept. 25 in Ettrick, Virginia. The event follows the Delaware State Invitational on the Bulldogs’ schedule.

Bowie State Men’s Cross-Country Team

Kamren Branch led the Bowie State men’s team at the 2025 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship, finishing 16th in 28:57.3. Branch also recorded a personal-best time of 18:02 at the Howard Invitational, where he finished 18th overall.

Sean Trader was Bowie State’s top runner in three of the team’s five meets during the 2025 season. He posted a season-best time of 18:16 at the Delaware State Sting Invitational, while the men’s team finished third at the VSU Cross Country Challenge and sixth at the Howard Invitational.

Bowie State Women’s Cross-Country Team

Emetem Bezezuh led Bowie State’s women’s team in every meet during the 2025 season. She recorded a season-best time of 23:29.8 at the LVC Dutchmen Cross Country Invite and finished 23rd at the Howard Invitational in 23:49.

Kaniyah Ervin led Bowie State at the CIAA Championship with a 35th-place finish in 23:33.7. Ugonna Ibegwam finished 39th in 23:47.7, and Bowie State’s women’s team placed fifth at the Howard Invitational with 141 points.

At the Howard Invitational, Ibegwam, Ervin, Adonna Jackson and Sule joined Bezezuh in the Bulldogs’ top five. The performances provided additional context for Bowie State’s women’s team entering the 2026 season.
