Coppin State University Women’s Volleyball senior Coco Figueroa was named the MEAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 7, 2026. It marked Figueroa’s first defensive player of the week honor this season and the eighth of her career.
The senior from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, also earned Kristen Dickmann Invitational All-Tournament Team honors after averaging 5.14 digs per set, 12 assists and five aces across three matches. The MEAC office announced the award Monday afternoon.
Figueroa Leads MEAC in Digs
Figueroa recorded 21 digs, three assists and two aces at Navy. She then posted a season-high 29 digs, five assists and one ace against Penn before adding 22 digs, four assists and two aces against Stony Brook.
Through six matches, Figueroa led the MEAC with 119 digs and 4.41 digs per set. She also had 24 assists, averaging 0.89 per set, and seven aces.
Figueroa ranked ninth nationally in total digs and 22nd in digs per set. She also ranked third in Coppin State University history with 1,337 digs and sixth with 118 aces.
Coppin State University Women’s Volleyball Returns at Zips Invitational
Coppin State University Women’s Volleyball returns to action Sept. 10-12 at the Zips Invitational, which is co-hosted by Akron and Cleveland State. Coppin State opens against Valparaiso on Thursday, followed by matches against Akron on Saturday and Cleveland State on Sunday.
Saturday’s and Sunday’s matches will air live on ESPN+.

Figueroa’s eighth career MEAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honor follows a strong three-match performance at the Kristen Dickmann Invitational. Her 119 digs through six matches lead the conference, while her 1,337 career digs rank third in Coppin State University history.
The Zips Invitational will give Figueroa and Coppin State University Women’s Volleyball three more opportunities to build on that production against Valparaiso, Akron and Cleveland State.
