ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — Salisbury University women’s soccer drew Randolph-Macon 2-2 on Saturday afternoon at Jaime L. Roberts Stadium, completing the Seahawk Classic finale in a tie.
Salisbury led 1-0 at halftime and extended its lead early in the second half before Randolph-Macon scored twice to level the match. The Yellow Jackets held a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Salisbury University women’s soccer takes early lead
Audrey Kregelka opened the scoring in the 41st minute with her first career goal. Talyn Catena assisted on the play, marking her second score-sheet appearance in her first three collegiate games.
Lauren Tolbert then doubled Salisbury’s lead early in the second half when a delivery from Lauren Chesney glanced off Tolbert’s head and the crossbar before entering the goal. Tolbert recorded her first career goal, while Chesney earned her third career assist and took two shots.
Randolph-Macon rallies to earn draw
Emmerson Hill cut Randolph-Macon’s deficit in the 61st minute. Natalie Moxey assisted on Hill’s goal before scoring the equalizer in the 86th minute.
Aley Martins made her first career start for Salisbury and recorded five saves. After Moxey’s goal, Jordan Edwards had a shot stopped, and Martins made one final save with 50 seconds remaining to help preserve the 2-2 draw.
Next match for Salisbury
Salisbury will play its home opener against Lynchburg on Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. as part of the Salisbury University Classic.
