The Frederick Keys baseball team suffered its first loss of the six-game series Thursday night, falling 12-5 to the Brooklyn Cyclones at Maimonides Park in Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn scored nine unanswered runs to win Game 3 of the series.
Yasmil Bucce drove in Frederick’s first run with an RBI single in the first inning and added a two-run home run in the fifth. Leandro Arias contributed an RBI single in the third inning, and Enddy Azocar delivered another RBI single in the fifth.
Brooklyn Cyclones Rally After Frederick Takes the Lead
Frederick opened the scoring with Bucce’s first-inning single. The Brooklyn Cyclones responded with two runs in the bottom of the second and added another run in the third to take a 3-2 lead.
The Keys moved back in front in the fifth inning when Azocar singled home a run, and Bucce hit his two-run homer. Brooklyn answered with a four-run bottom half that included a three-run home run by Ronald Hernandez and an RBI infield hit, giving the Cyclones a 7-5 advantage.
Stephen Still struck out the side during his fourth inning of relief. Brooklyn then scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth and finished with 16 base hits.
Frederick went scoreless in the top of the ninth as Brooklyn secured its first win of the series with the 12-5 victory.
Frederick Keys, Brooklyn Cyclones Set for Game 4
The Frederick Keys are scheduled to face the Brooklyn Cyclones again Friday night in Game 4 of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. at Maimonides Park in Coney Island.
