Hood College women 1s field hockey dominated in its season opener, defeating Goucher 7-0 on the road on Sept. 2, 2026, in Baltimore, Md. Madeline Moreno scored three goals on nine shots to record the first hat trick of her career, and Hood outshot Goucher 37-2.
Hood College Builds Early Lead
Hood scored twice in the first quarter to take a 2-0 lead. Lillie Kodrin scored the game 27s first goal, followed by Emma Massey adding another.
Moreno scored Hood 27s only goal of the second quarter off a penalty corner, giving the Blazers a 3-0 halftime advantage. Hood added two goals in each of the final two quarters to complete the shutout victory.
Moreno, Fleming and Massey Lead Hood Offense
Sydney Fleming and Emma Massey each recorded one goal and one assist. Fleming and Massey both assisted on Moreno 27s goals, while Natalie Badour contributed an assist on one of Moreno 27s three goals.
Loes Schellekens recorded her first career assist as a Blazer on Becca Medina 27s first collegiate goal. Allison Wallin recorded the shutout in goal, and Harper Buettner played her first collegiate minutes in the second half.
Hood College Women 27s Field Hockey Looks Ahead
Goucher goalkeeper Katie Bloom made 20 saves. Hood has won four of its last five meetings against Goucher.
Hood is scheduled to play Batten University, formerly known as Virginia Wesleyan, in Virginia Beach on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 3 p.m.
