Notre Dame of Maryland University Women’s Volleyball opened the season with a 3-0 loss to Washington College on Sept. 1 at the MBK Sports Complex in Baltimore. Washington College won the match by set scores of 25-19, 25-11 and 25-23, leaving Notre Dame of Maryland with a 0-1 record and a 0-0 United East record.
Washington College Takes Control
Washington College finished with a .273 hitting percentage, compared with .082 for Notre Dame of Maryland. The Shorewomen won each set, including the 25-23 finale.
The third set marked Notre Dame of Maryland’s strongest offensive stretch. The team hit .200 in the set, committed five errors and recorded 11 kills.
Kaliyah Brown Leads Notre Dame of Maryland
Kaliyah Brown led Notre Dame of Maryland with 12 kills and a .321 attack percentage. Aleah Johnson and Bryanna Carter each recorded five kills, while Johnson added two aces and five assists.
Libero Izzy Stewart led the defense with 13 digs and recorded two aces. Oliviya Rodriguez recorded 13 assists in her collegiate debut.
