Frederick Keys Rally Past Asheville Tourists 8-7 on Leandro Arias’ Walk-Off Sacrifice Fly

Leandro Arias hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Frederick Keys defeated the Asheville Tourists 8-7 on Aug. 29, 2026, at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium in Frederick, Maryland. The victory secured the six-game series for the Frederick Keys in game four and marked their eighth walk-off win of the season.

With the bases loaded and one out, Arias lifted a ball into left field deep enough for Andres Nolaya to score from third base. The winning play sent the Frederick Keys to victory in front of close to 7,000 fans and secured the series ahead of Sunday’s doubleheader.

Frederick Keys Build Five-Run Lead

Boston Bateman opened the game with a 1-2-3 top of the first inning before Yasmil Bucce gave the Frederick Keys a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the bottom half. After a scoreless second inning, Braylin Tavera added an RBI double in the third to make it 2-0.

The Frederick Keys extended their advantage to 5-0 in the bottom of the fourth. Enddy Azocar and Randal Diaz recorded RBIs, while Tavera added another RBI base hit to give the home team a five-run lead.

Asheville Tourists Take Lead Before Frederick Keys Respond

After the teams finished the fifth inning without scoring, the Asheville Tourists got on the board with a two-run homer to left, cutting the Frederick Keys’ lead to 5-2 entering the seventh inning. Asheville then scored five runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7-5 lead.

The Frederick Keys answered in the bottom of the seventh when Braylon Whitaker hit a two-RBI triple. The play tied the game at 7-7 and sent the teams into the eighth inning even.

Leandro Arias Completes Walk-Off Win

Both teams were held scoreless in the eighth inning. In the top of the ninth, the Frederick Keys turned a bases-loaded double play to keep the Asheville Tourists off the board and preserve the tie.

That play set up the winning opportunity in the bottom half. Arias then lifted the sacrifice fly that scored Nolaya and completed the Frederick Keys’ 8-7 victory.
