Delmarva Shorebirds Beat Salem RidgeYaks 8-5 as Ty Head Hits First Professional Home Run

The Delmarva Shorebirds defeated the Salem RidgeYaks 8-5 in the series finale Aug. 16, 2026, in Salisbury, Maryland. Ty Head hit his first professional home run, a three-run shot that gave Delmarva a 6-3 lead. The victory secured the series for the Shorebirds.

Delmarva entered the game with a 41-73 overall record and an 18-30 record in their specific split from the source, while Salem entered at 49-63 overall and 24-23 in its corresponding split.

Head put Delmarva back in front with his first professional home run, a three-run shot with a 105 mph exit velocity. The homer gave the Shorebirds a 6-3 advantage.

Head scored again in the sixth inning on a wild pitch, extending Delmarva’s lead to 7-3. Kleyver Salazar answered for Salem in the seventh with a two-run home run that cut the margin to 7-5.

Delmarva added an insurance run in the eighth inning when Eric Booth Jr. grounded out to score Head. The run restored the Shorebirds’ three-run lead entering the final inning.

Brendan Parks recorded the final three outs in order in the ninth inning and earned his first save. Kailen Hamson earned the win for Delmarva with a 5-4 record, while Jose Bello took the loss for Salem with a 2-5 record.

Delmarva Shorebirds Return Tuesday

The Shorebirds return Tuesday for the first game of a series at the Hickory Crawdads. The opening pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
