Towson Clashes with Stony Brook in Uphill Climb to Save Season.

The bye week is incredibly important for football teams at any level. An opportunity to get healthy, scheme, relax and prepare for the rest of the season. In Towson’s case it’s an opportunity to right the ship. The Tigers have struggled mightily over the past few weeks. The team has struggled to win at home and have had difficulty on both offense and defense. Growing pains are common with teams in the first few years of a new head coach and with a true freshman at quarterback.

This is an interesting matchup for a number of reasons. Identical records, coming off loses, in similar spots. The Seawolves are coming off a loss to Monmouth to bring their record to 3-4. Chris Zellous is their quarterback, a grad transfer from Hampton, has 1246 yards passing and 6 touchdowns. He does have 5 INT’s on the year but has been a threat in the run game. He has almost 400 yards rushing and 392 yards rushing. He also has a receiving touchdown this year.

Roland Dempster is their big play running back who has 709 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns. Their receiving game has struggled a bit but they do have some big play makers like Jayce Freeman who will look to stretch the field vertically.

Defensively they have some good playmakers. Anthony Ferrelli leads the team tackles with 66. Aidan Kaler is another guy who is able to generate a lot of pressure on the QB (4 quarterback hits). They also feature guys like Chayce Chalmers, DaMario Crawford, AJ Robert’s, and Bryson Parker. This game needs to be a turning point in the season. They have to get some turnover. The Tigers will need to get pressure on the QB and making sure they are ready to play. They need to find a way to get the job done and get out of there with a win.

GOH TIGERS!
