Major League Baseball has just announced that the Washington Nationals' Max Scherzer will not be pitching at the Cleveland All-Star Game. Because Scherzer started on Saturday July 6, he will not be available to pitch an inning at this year's Midsummer Classic. The right-hander will still likely attend the events and meet with media while Sonny Gray of the Cincinnati Reds will take his spot on the National League roster.
This move now leaves the Nationals with no active representatives at the All-Star Game, barring even more changes to the rosters before next week.
