Wizards fall just short in 115-114 loss to Chicago

The Washington Wizards lost 115-114 to the Chicago Bulls Wednesday night at the United Center.

Bobby Portis and Thomas Bryant led the Wizards with 20 points each and Bradley Beal chipped in 19. Beal only logged in 22 minutes which was his lowest amount since the end of November. Since the the team is out of the playoffs it’s only fitting they’ll give their lone All-Star less time. The team got a scare as Jabari Parker left midway through the game with a left knee sprain. The team was already short-handed while Trevor Ariza was out with a groin strain, and Jeff Green for rest.

On the other side of the ball, Walt Lemon Jr led all Bulls in scoring with a career-high 24 points with eight assists. JaKarr Sampson gave Chicago 18 points off the bench. Washington and Chicago went back and forth throughout the entire game: the Wizards won the first quarter by two, lost the second by one, won the third by three, and lost the fourth by five.

Chasson Randle gave the Wizards a 114-113 lead with 12.7 seconds remaining, but he fouled Walter Lemon Jr. with two seconds left. Lemon’s two free throws proved to be the game-winning points. Jordan McRae’s shot at the buzzer came up just short.

The Wizards host the Spurs at home Friday night at 7pm.
