Orioles grant Escobar his release

The Baltimore Orioles have granted shortstop Alcides Escobar his outright release.

This should not be a surprise to fans. With Richie Martin likely starting at short, Escobar was facing either a utility role in the majors or a season in the minors.

Escobar is now a free agent and can sign with any team.
