Capitals look to shake their blues against the Blue in St. Louis.
9-25 Washington at St. Louis
TV: 8pm NBC Sports Washington
Last game: 5-1 loss at Carolina
Goal scorer: Nicklas Backstrom
For the Capitals, Pheonix Copley will start in goal for tonight’s preseason game in St. Louis and is expected to play entire game. The Washington Capitals seem to have made their final decision on the goaltending tandem as they are expected to play Copley in two of the last three preseason games, and Braden Holtby is scheduled to get the middle game to prepare for the Washington Capitals opener at home against the Boston Bruins.
We will also see the debut of All star defenseman John Carlson tonight in preseason action leaving just one player left to make his preseason debut in Devante Smith-Pelley.
Tonight’s game will focus on mostly Hershey Bears players as the Capitals are holding onto 40 players in camp still. The Bears who opened up training camp on Monday in Hershey started camp with just 17 players on the roster. Expect a decent size amount of cuts to take place tonight or tomorrow morning after tonight’s preseason game.
*Game Note* Pheonix Copley will face his former team tonight in St. Louis. Cops was apart of the deal that brought TJ Oshie to the Washington Capitals two seasons ago.
