Reid Cashman is not a surprise entrant into the names of new potential Washington Capitals assistant coaches. Cashman ran the rookie development camp early on in July culminating in the Red vs White scrimmage game. Cashman will replace Lane Lambert, who left Washington with Barry Trotz and went to the New York Islanders.

Cashman was first hired by the Bears on July 27, 2016, as an assistant coach under then-head coach Troy Mann. He spent two seasons in Hershey. Prior to being the Bears assistant coach, Cashman spent five seasons as an assistant coach with the Quinnipiac Bobcats of the NCAA. During his final year with the Bobcats, he was promoted to an associate head coach. Quinnipiac would reach the NCAA tournament four times during Cashman’s tenure, including two Frozen Fours.
