MLB All Star week begins on June 15 with the All Star Futures Game, a showcase of the young talent contained in the minor leagues, and this year two Orioles farmhands will be participating.
The rosters for Team USA and Team World were announced this afternoon. Infielder Ryan Mountcastle and pitcher Alex Wells were selected to Team USA and Team World respectively.
Mountcastle, 21, was a consensus top-100 prospect entering this season and has lived up to the hype, posting a .313/.363/.498 line with seven home runs and 32 RBI with Double-A Bowie in 54 games.
Wells, 21, has been one of the better starters in the Orioles system this year, pitching to a 3.90 ERA in 15 starts for the Frederick Keys.
