Ravens Draft Kenny Young

The Ravens used their second 4th round pick, number 122 overall, to select inside linebacker Kenny Young out of UCLA.

Young has speed and raw athleticism to spare. Scouting reports say that he gets after plays on the outside, and relies heavily on his instincts to diagnose and act on plays. He is more of a skill player, and should be useful in covering tight ends in passing situations.

He isn’t as aggressive as you’d like, in that he doesn’t do well at the point of attack, which is usually a staple of the Ravens defense. He doesn’t look to hit offensive players hard, and often gets physically taken advantage of as a result.

The Ravens desperately needed help at the inside linebacker position and they hope Young can fill the role. He’ll have a very good chance to start as long as Kamalei Correa continues to earn his status as a bust. arguably, Baltimore’s biggest flaw on defense last year was covering tight ends, and if Young can do that effectively, he’ll be a welcomed addition to the starting defense.
